A History of Servant Leadership

Reverend Dr. Willie T. Edmondson has more than 30 years of spiritual and civic leadership. On March 21st, he is asking for the community to support his election as Mayor of LaGrange, GA.

Willie T. Edmondson is a lifelong resident of Troup County and LaGrange whose work and service has impacted all citizens. He was born in Antioch, outside of the LaGrange city limits, where his family set an example of hard work and community values. Although he grew up in a time that was challenging for African Americans, young Willie T. had a vision for a LaGrange that would be united and do the right thing for all citizens.

After studying at West Georgia Technical College, Willie T. entered into the healthcare profession as a nurse at City County Hospital (now Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center). When he responded to the calling to enter the ministry, he pursued studies at Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta and Jehovah Jireh Seminary in Alexander City, AL. He continued his care for LaGrange citizens when he acquired Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home after working there for several years and continuing its tradition of dedicated and respectful service to the families of loved ones who have passed.

In 1998, Reverend Edmondson was elected to the LaGrange City Council as a representative for District 2. During his tenure, he has helped to bring important economic and community development projects to LaGrange. Some notable initiatives include The Thread, Great Wolf Lodge, the Downtown Corridor and the current redevelopment of the Griggs Recreational Center. As the city looks towards the future it needs a leader with the experience, relationships and track record of success to usher it forward. Dr. Willie T. Edmondson is the right person for the job and it is the right time to elect him as the next MAYOR OF LAGRANGE, GA
